Brocklesby Ltd, Brocklesby House, Crosslands Lane, North Cave, Brough, East Yorkshire, HU15 2PG
We are dedicated to minimising our environmental footprint. Our core business activities inherently support the circular economy by diverting waste from landfills and reprocessing materials for new uses.
Here are some specific examples of our environmental efforts:
We adhere to all relevant UK and EU environmental regulations, including the RED II Directive (Directive 2018/2001/EU on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources). However, our commitment goes further.
Through our sustainability team we continue to strengthen our compliance and due diligence processes, which support securing evidence-of-sustainability certification for our feedstock and products. We closely monitor our performance with regards to green house gas (GHG’s) emissions in all of our operations and report this under the governance of the ISCC, via our annual certification.
We have contributed over the past couple of years to the ‘Game Changer’, which is the Corporate Sustainability Report of St1 Nordic. The report is published to recount the collective businesses material disclosure topics in corporate sustainability as well as business activities.
We continue to operate our processes through the control of an environmental permit as regulated through the Environment Agency. An Environmental Management System has also been implemented across our business over the past couple of years, which has achieved ISO 14001: 2015 certification. This has assisted in further continuing to improve in our environmental performance and seek new initiates to enhance our operational efficiencies.
We manage our Non-Conformance processes to monitor the effectiveness of our procedures and implement improvements as required to maintain compliance.
In July 2023 we implemented a number of Continuous Improvement Programmes to evaluate energy efficiency and utilities usage across the site, improve product yield, as well as transport and collection efficiencies.
At Brocklesby, we continue to seek ways to reduce our carbon footprint and become more sustainable through the installation of additional solar panels to the roof of our main factory to now provide approximately 15% of our total daily power usage. Our two gas fired boilers, with a thermal input of 8MWth each, were installed in 2021. These are capable of generating up to 10Mg/hr of steam for our processing facility.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) performance is of high importance to all our operations. We prioritize HSSE performance across all operations, fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
Brocklesby Ltd integrates sustainability factors into all aspects of our operations, striving to exceed regulatory requirements and positively impact our environment and community. By being a part of St1, we are committed to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. At Brocklesby, we contribute to those principles by:
